Project description: On Zanzibar, education, counseling or therapy for children/young adults with disabilities are not obvious. M.A. Zanzibar offers these children and young adults the opportunity to develop themselves in a familiar and safe environment. The main aim is the special school that provides every child the right to education, therapy and/or meaningful daytime activities. M.A. offers a nursery, primary and physical therapy department. They work with individual care plans and all the children have their own personal goals. Besides, they offer work experience places in the field of bar/restaurant, reception, housekeeping and security for young adults with disabilities from age 16 and older.
In order to run our project in a self-sustainable way, M.A. offers 10 beautiful bungalows with private bathroom. They also has a swimming pool, dormitory for volunteers, restaurant, boutique and an excursion office.
Goal: We opened the guesthouse in order to fund and create sustainability for our special school.
Role of the intern: Marketing, front-office, back office, guest relation. Aiming for skills transfer next to leaving behind materials and methods that can be used in terms of sustainability.
Specific activities:
There is always space to talk about implementing own specific activities. Because this is a starting guesthouse, the marketing and management for tourism and the project will be very important now: · Marketing via social media and website
· Organizing events for publicity, assisting with finances.
· Working directly with our guests in the office or restaurant
· Working at front-office and improve guest relations
· Come with own initiatives to improve the guesthouse and project
Supervision: The founder of M.A. Zanzibar is living on the project site and will supervise you during your stay. She has a “SSB recognition” for two MBO4 educations based on tourism and a BA in Social Work. Workspace for intern: You will work for M.A. guesthouse. There is a possibility to work in the restaurant or the office (when not occupied).

· Visa application (and extension) assistance + flight booking and transport advice
· Accommodation (arrangements only)
· Airport pick up Stone Town International on Mondays between 8.00 and 20.00. (It’s possible to arrive another day or time, but then a hotel will be organized for own expense)

· Experienced and qualified supervisor and contact person constantly available
·Support and guidance from the moment of registration until return back home Interaction with local community and experiencing the local culture
