Objective To support the Field HR department's relationship with potential and current members of the active field staff pool. To assist with administrative/clerical responsibilities related to the departure and returns of field staff management of field staff who work internationally in MSF’s projects around the world. The Field HR intern provides support to the administrative team in a variety of ways. The Field HR intern will respond to requests for information on volunteering requirements and general MSF Field HR information. S/he will learn about the organizations changing Field needs and support the pool of existing and prospective field workers as appropriate to those needs.
Duties The Field Human Resources Intern will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Update and compile complete and accurate visa applications for international staff going to the field
Courier visa applications to consulates
Perform research on work permit and visa procedures as needed
Assist with Field HR data streamlining process working with various databases and electronic files, perform administrative support tasks
Process reimbursements for field staff expenses
Access and process field staff applications for initial screening by recruiters
Perform research and outreach to local vendors for care packages to be sent to field staff
Assist as needed in the Information Days, Welcome Back Days, and other in-house trainings
Attend BBLs, public education events, and staff and department meetings as often as scheduling allows.
Strong writing and computer skills, strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, strong verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in an environment with many interruptions
Ability to prioritize ongoing vs. immediate needs appropriately
Willingness to represent MSF to external parties, including embassies
Experience or interest in working in the field for a nongovernmental organization an asset
Experience working with various databases an asset
Fluent in English, French an asset
Genuine commitment to the principles and work of MSF

Please note, interns are paid at an hourly rate of $13.50/hr.
